April Preparedness + Preparedness Fair April 27

April Preparedness:  IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY
This month's assignment is to be educated in what to do in the event an emergency arises in your life.  The binder has several pages on the subject and the internet is full of information.  It is recommended that we all take the time to read the pages in the Binder under April to become familiar with steps that can be taken if we are face to face with an emergency.  It includes:
First Aid including a list of supplies that are helpful to have on hand
Keeping Refrigerated and Frozen foods safe when the power has gone out for an extended period of time.
Taking care of yourself, your family and others: Do's and Don'ts
Sanitation: Supplies to have on hand and procedures to follow
Chemical or Radiation Emergencies: What to do at home.  What to do if in your car.

Quote from President Joseph Fielding Smith in April 1948
"I do not know when he (The Savior) is going to come.  No man knows.  Even the angels of heaven are in the dark in regard to that great truth.  (Matt. 24:36-37)  But this I know, that the signs that have been pointed out are here.  The earth is full of calamity, of trouble.  The hearts of men are failing them.  We see the signs as we see the fig  tree putting forth her leaves: and knowing this time is near, it behooves me and it behooves you, and all men upon the face of the earth, to pay heed to the words of Christ, to his apostles and watch, for we know not the day nor the hour.  But I tell you this, it shall come as a thief in the night, when many of us will not be ready for it."

The Church today has given us guidelines and council  through the booklet "Providing In The Lord's Way."   In it under the heading: Provide for Self and Family it states: "Church members are responsible for their own spiritual and temporal well-being.  Blessed with the gift of agency, they have the privilege of setting their own course, solving their own problems, and striving to become self-reliant.  Members do this under the inspiration of The Lord and with the labor of their own hands."

Preparedness Fair!! Sponsored by the Manila 11th Ward will be held in our Church building on April 27 from 1 - 4 p.m.  Brother Mark Conrad from that ward is behind this endeavor and we know it will be a great experience for families to go to.  If you have questions about being prepared you can get the answers there.  Everyone is invited to attend.  This will be very good!
