Sarah H.'s Great-great-great Grandma

When I think of motherhood, I often think of my ancestors, one in particular is my great-great-great grandmother Sarah Burnes (we share the same name). She was the mother of 13 children during the hardships of the early 1800's. She seemed strong yet compassionate. She knew more pain and sorrow than I could ever imagine as she buried 5 of her infants before she was 30 years old. She was married for 55 years. When I start feeling like my days are hard, I think back to her perseverance and I am quickly humbled. This is the picture that appeared in the local newspaper in honor of her 50th wedding anniversary.
